Story book character's

Minimalist approach to merchandising favorite characters.

Make lo's demands/wants into a enriching + creative experience for your Bubu.

I am sure our kids always ask for toys all the time. My Bubu has recently started doing so. Maybe it comes with age.

We recently read the series "Peep and egg" from the library, and Bubu enjoyed them. He wanted Peep and Egg toy. I realized when we made our sun, moon, earth toys the fun part is lo's get satisfied very easily. I and Bubu now make the things he asks for with the art supply we have lying around at home and he plays with them like they are any other toys.

It's an enriching + creative experience for Bubu as he creates the things he wants, instead of wanting. We have an activity to do together and quality time spent as we make these. Making these, I have learnt to give it a thought before buying toys, it is really helping my minimalist journey.

Lets make it

You will need

  1. Art supply - Like colored stock paper, felt, goggly eyes, cardboard, paints; really depends on what you are making

  2. Glue

Process

  • Draw the shape of the character, etc.

  • Trace it with permanent marker.

  • Embellish with felt, goggly eyes, paint to make it look its best.

  • You may add an ice cream stick to use as puppets for play if it's a character.

Ta da done! Your lo can have fun playing pretend and make belief to his/her heart's content.

Update: 1 April 2020, we made a FedEx truck by drawing the truck in a FedEx box we had. Now this 2D truck is Bubu's favorite toy. We also made packages. These packages get used heavily for pretend play, where Bubu's city of blocks get a package at each door step.
