The store bought

Store bought granny remedies that worked for my Bubu for common cough and cold

It's winter aka the flu season. What meds to give Bubu is always on my mind and tending to a sick Bubu is my weekends now-a-days.

As much as I would like to always have a home remedy I do resort to some store bought alternatives as it is convenient on a time crunch. They still fall under natural derived ingredients or methods.

#1 Humidifier

It took me a little while to learn this the hard way. I wanted a pretty looking one but none of them were strong and pretty at the same time. We tried a few to find the one that works for us by Pure. When you choose your humidifier look for reviews that say this product is very potent and strong, and really works. Placing it closer to the bed/crib helps. The cold mist one works just as well as the hot one and is much safer as your Bubu grow’s up and are curious about exploring everything.

#2 Honey sticks

Bubu now is 2.4 months and as f yet every time he has a cough, there are really no meds that the American docs will recommend but honey. These are a fun option it’s like a treat for the lil one. There are tons of options on Amazon.com to buy it in bulk it's much cheaper to buy it that way instead of buying by the piece in farmers market or Whole Foods.

#3 Honey pops/Med pops

There are lollipops made with manuka honey, oils, spices concoction. Great for kids who reject medicine's when sick. We have tried a few:-

  • Lolleez: This is my favorite, and why not. It's awesome as it has all natural ingredients. And it's made by a mom (of 4) and is all women company. Go girl-power; support a mom.

  • Wedderspoon: Its cool as it has real manuka honey in it. The only drawback is it has couple chemical's in its ingredient list.

  • Little Remedies: And then there are lollipops by Little Remedies which are made out of their medicines itself.

#4 Zarbee’s

Zarbee's have a range of natural products for the whole family. Check out their website if you want to look at all the products available. You can find it in any drug store or even online on Target and Amazon.

  • Cough + Mucus Syrup: We love the combo pack. The pack holds one daytime med and one nighttime med. As ear, nose, throat, is all connected it makes sense to buy the version that mentions is made for cough + mucus. It’s a home remedy premixed for you for example ours has dark honey + ivyleaf. How convenient.

  • Chest Rub: I love this little chest rub it smells like it will work its magic. I like to apply it on his back, chest, forehead, soles once in the morning and just before bedtime. This too is all natural ingredients almost like a home remedy premixed, this rub contains beeswax as base and eucalyptus + lavender, smells devine.

  • Saline spray: This is very helpful when your Bubu is no more a baby. Doctors say that it helps ease the congestion much deeper down than using Nosefrida which will do it on a surface level in older kids 12+. The one by Zarbee's is not just a saline nasal mist but also includes Aloe to moisturizes the insides of the poor lil runny nose.

It's winter aka the flu season. Cold windy weather always hurts my Bubu even after all the layers. What meds to give Bubu is always on my mind and tending to a sick Bubu is my weekends now-a-days. That's one of the reason I wrote this blogpost. I am in thick of it on and off so thought this insight will be helpful for a first time mom. Hoping this will help any mom looking for some natural organic store bought options.
