Beach + sand

We took a quick stop at the Alameda beach to introduce our Bubu to the idea of a beach. I think it was love at first breeze!

This beach was awesome or the weather was perfect today. The water is cool not cold and the beach was warm with a pleasant breeze. It's hard to find such beaches in north California. Definitely worth a try.
We had a lovely lunch at Alameda and thought lets introduce our Bubu to the beach. Well, we had taken him couple of times to the beach in the warm winters of Mumbai, when he was 3 - 6 months old. But do you think he remembers that?
We were definitely not dressed for it, but who cares. Tip: We have recently started keeping our trusty waterproof mat in the boot of the car which helps to have such impromptu plans.

Our Bubu loved the cool breeze as it swept through his long locks you could tell by the joy in his eyes. Definitely need to plan a picnic at the beach soon. Will keep you all posted if we do and will list more warm beaches as we explore some in the Bay Area.
Activities we did
#1 Sensory activity
We let Bubu play with his hands and get all the sand on our mat, his clothes, my jeans, everything. As the pediatric say its good for them to get dirty. He loved it so much he was busy for almost 45 minutes, (one of us should have utilized it to nap :P). The sand on this beach is pretty manageable gravel-like texture not too fine. So, it doesn't fly or get in your eyes when you play. You can easily dust it off. Less of a mess.
#2 Sensory activity
We wet our feet up to the ankle (technically Bubu's ankle height) in the sea. Well this too kept him busy for almost 20 minutes + without complaining.
Oh what joy it is to see that smile when your Bubu try's a new thing and likes it. Our Bubu loved both activities. He was pretty occupied and didn't show signs of boredom. In fact both times he did revolt a bit to leave the activity.
Cons
Trip to the beach no matter how gravelly the sand, still calls for a bath and a good wash of the dusty clothes. So that's a thing you will come back home and have to accommodate especially for the sandy dusty lil Bubu's.
