Bubu was very observant, looking with curiosity at all the tracks and the different trains that moved in circles.

Let's start with my husband loves the trains, he has some fond childhood memories riding as well as sitting on the platform watching trains go by with his granddad. So maybe this was more exciting for the child in him so I wanted to keep this on our to-do list. This activity was a part of my meetup group To-do with Bubu, feel free to join if it interests you. It was the Labour Day weekend, and The Anderson farms hosts a rail fair on this weekend every year. It had tons of model train displays, lemonade and popcorn popped in a iron skillet the old-old-fashioned way as well as their ever popular train ride, rail yard equipment displays, early day gas engine and tractor displays, the children's Hobo game, music basically a whole day well spent. Kids 3 and above had a construction area with waffle blocks, plastic hammer saw nuts bolts, construction sets, wooden train and train book library.

Activities we did

#1 Train ride

Their popular "Katie" a diesel locomotive was giving rides to all the little ones and families. They also have a steam locomotive "AnnMarie" which was pulling a demonstration train for viewing purposes only, for this year only it wasn't used for public rides. Maybe next year we can try again.

#2 Food and animals

On our walk from the train drop-off to the farm we had a old-fashioned lemonade and skillet popped popcorn. As well as we visited the hen, turkey and pigs. It would rather be incomplete trip to the farm if we didn't say hi to the animals.

#3 Model trains

There were such beautiful intricate displays of village-scapes as well as cityscapes and few forest, ore-mine displays with model trains. They also had a live steam model train that threw out mist. It was fun to see kids squeal with joy and run beside the train models as they chugged in circles. Our Bubu was mesmerized and wanted to hold the moving trains. We had to keep him held in our arms to keep him from touching the display.

Cons

I wish we could play in the kids construction zone area too. Our Bubu is 15 months so maybe he would still love to play with most of those lovely gigantic toys too.
