Nature is the best playroom, where a child can be a child
Summer brings in a lot of fruits and the harvest season for fruits. Finding your local farm and seeing if they offer “you pick” service is well worth it. Being in the Bay Area, it’s very easy we have tons of fruit and vegetable farms in Brentwood. They all are clean, organized and lush, we have tried 3 different farms in the last few years and enjoyed our experience. In India I remember as teenagers we went with our parents to Mahabaleshwar every Summer at strawberry farms that offered similar experience. I am sure they still offer more services like these. If not, just a farm visit can enrich a child experience as there is so much to understand.
In my opinion farms are a lovely adventure to go on with your Bubu as it gives them hands on experience to see farm to table. At 2 years of age our Bubu remembers he picked cherries from the tree, he mentions it when we offer him cherry “car…big fan(windmill)…tree…sky…etc). Nature is the best playroom, where a child can be a child and jump, run, throw, stack, discover, engage and be immersed in play. It’s a blessing we all can enjoy and should utilize more. This adventure will really make your Bubu a happy baby. There is something about seeing these bountiful trees and picking your own fruit. I enjoy it and if your parents are visiting its perfect as they really appreciate this kind of experience's.
I can’t wait for Bubu to grow older to involve him in growing and taking care of plants, is something I wish to do. Maybe at that age observing a farm will bring understanding of the effort that went in growing the fruit/veggie. Also picking your own fruit or vegetable to then cutting, cooking, eating will be so much more personal experience with food he might learn to respect food and waste less. Well that’s a good vision to have.
Do lookout for your local farm, see if they offer any involvement or experience or a tour for visitors, doesn’t hurt to try.
