Artwork - 3D cars

Updated: Feb 26, 2020

Bubu loves cars so we made some more. This time it has a third dimension.

To add it's a lovely quality time when we sit and make something constructive and creative.

Crafting is getting so much fun. Bubu loves it! He definitely is showing 90% more interest in arts and craft. To add it's a lovely quality time when we sit and make something constructive and creative.

Let's make it:

You will need

My aim with these crafts, is that you just look around your home, the idea is to use things you would trash or things in your pantry or repurposing things you do not like etc. For all the supplies the possibilities are endless.

  1. Poster Paint

  2. Sponge brush

  3. Glue

  4. Car body = Example empty boxes / toilet roll / bottles

  5. Windows = Colored construction paper / stickers

  6. Wheels = Example bottle caps / paper cutouts / pasta (that's what we used)

Process

With each of these artworks, I choose to spread the time we spend on making the artwork, over the entire week. It helps to make art a fun activity, as kids have short attention span. Also, it's a lovely "quality time together" when we sit and make something constructive and creative. Artwork helps with hand and eye coordination and obviously gets everyone's creative juices flowing.

Each day of the week you can have one crafting activity that adds to beautify your artwork. We start on the weekend and spend a solid 20 to 30 minutes to create the base for the craft. The first day mostly has the most amount of work. And on the weekdays it's a commitment of only 5 to 15 minutes. Here's how we built Christmas tree one day at a time. Here's how we built our cars one day at a time.

Day 1 | Time spent: 30 minutes

Color the car body. We choose empty tiny boxes as our car body. Let your Bubu choose which color he wants on each box. Help him pour some poster paint in a palette or plate. Best is to pour one color at a time else they will end up mixing all the colors together, unless you want that. Why not, mixing is fun too.

Set up a drying station. Ours is a paper plate. My Bubu love to take the responsibility to go keep creations in the "drying station".

Day 2 | Time spent: 15 minutes

Cut basic shapes for window. This time Bubu put on the glue and also stuck the shapes. I love how he is getting all excited about crafting.

Day 3 and 4 | Time spent: 10 minutes

Stick the wheels. One side each day, as it needs time to dry, especially if these are heavy material like pasta or bottle caps. We choose to go with the wheel shaped pasta I had lying in the pantry.

Day 5 | Time spent: 5 minutes

Add headlights or googly eyes like we did. You can draw a smile and eyebrows to give your cars a personality.

Next day was Friday and we take our awesome artwork to Montessori, as Friday's is 'show-&-tell day' in his class.

The bonus always is Friday morning are exciting to go to school.

It's nice to see how they get creative. World definitely needs people to be creative and be creative problem solvers. So get some fun creative juices flowing during your time together with Bubu. And share those awesome creative projects with me and my Bubu.
